Save On Gasoline

To begin with, make sure you are getting the lowest price on gasoline by checking the prices in your area on line at www.gaspricewatch.com.

Car pool whenever possible. This also has the potential to save on tolls and parking when these are not free.

Cut back on unnecessary road trips. If you have a store that is close enough to walk to and you only need a few things, consider walking instead of driving. Only go cloths shopping when you have time to try everything on as this cuts back on trips back to the store to return stuff. Check your receipts for price accuracy before you leave the store, instead of coming back later to dispute an error. I had this experience more then once where a restaurant I wanted to go, has been shut down and no longer exists. In this economy, calling ahead to make sure the place is still open might be a good idea. Obviously you do not want to ask "Are you open?" when you call, nor do you want to just hang up. Instead try "What are your hours?" This is a good idea anyway so you don't go when they are flipping the open sign to close.

Getting lost while travelling can be one of the biggest fuel wasters of all. If this happens to you a lot, consider investing in a GPS for your car. I have one and I love it. It is so much easier and better than any map.

Obey speed limits. Getting a speeding ticket is costly. Even if you don't get caught, speeding still waists money because the faster you go, the faster you are burning fuel.

Have you found any good ways to keep fuel costs low?
